It has a natural lubricity, so it makes a good material to make a low load gear out of if you need it to run dry. I see no reason to use it in a sealed gearbox, and it will definitely not last under high power.

I plan to run my savvy tranny in an oil bath, seems like the all metal tranny could use some help in that department. Does not take a rocket scientist to see that a metal on metal contact could do with some lubrication, especially with straight cut gears.
