It has fiberglass strands running through it and is almost impossible to tear. I have always had to use a razor blade. I would think it with some of the other tires would offer the properties of a 1:1 steel belted radial. Especially if the tape was applied then backed with a liquid rubber glue type compound. Could probably be used with the 40 series road rage and still kept fairly light.
I found some 3m clear heavy duty duct tape. It has cloth fibers in it, and worked very well on the badlands. I gave it one wrap with about 1" overlap. This tape has very aggressive adhesive, but is a bit thinner/lighter than std duct tape. As I have beadlocks I tested the benefit with and without the tape. It cut the ballooning way down, maybe only 1/8-1/4" added radius when running after using it, and the truck was geared for the high 40s. Before I used the tape the tires would grow well over 1" to the radius. That and balancing are a must if you plan to run some speed.
