The evader tranny doesn't hold up to a vxl system, and since it's a copy of a losi... The firestorm looks like a copy of a T4, with a metal trans and gear diff, and seems well reviewed elsewhere as far as durability, with better handling than a rustler. The rustler is a fun truck with a set of anocondas on it. The only thing I ever broke was rear arm and bent shock shafts from cartwheeling @ 40+mph.
But I'm kinda partial to 4wd on just about any surface. I find it's easier to drive, especially if you like to drive sideways like me. A crt.5, mini Hyper ST or similar would be my first choice if you didn't want to go 1/8th. My brother in law has a dark impact that has taken a pretty good beating too with no breakage, but I wouldn't call it as durable as a crt.5
