Not sure exactly where it is on a V2 or V3, but it's a fairly large device about the size of one of the FETs. On a V1 (at least on mine) it was located right where the power wires were soldered to the board (underside).
I agree though, that high of a voltage probably blew it very quick. It is designed to supress voltage spikes for a very short duration (such as when braking), but applying a constant voltage likely popped it within a couple of milli-seconds. All this means is that any protection from braking spikes is not there anymore.
