There is a very useful and informative guide about all the settings on the MMM, but finding it is another thing..

Anyway, raising timing too much will decrease efficiency without nettgin any gain in power, so that means more heat.

The MMM motor works best with low to medium timing (on or two notches above the minimum setting).

For general bashing purposes, set the timing to low/medium, start power to low, punch to about 60-70%, brakes to whatever you feel happy with (40-50%). For racing, I would increase punch control a little, but the rest can probably stay the same- see what other people with similar setups are using (truggy section) for inspiration.
