From my experience, I'd suspect the motor before the ESC. Do you have another ESC or motor to swap out to determine which is the culprit?
Another factor may be that the batteries cannot properly handle the current the motor requires. It's just a thought, I know the 5700 can be quite an amp hog on 3s.
