The stock Traxxas carriers have a metal ring on the back that can be transferred over to the RPM carrier. It's a little tricky to get on but nessasry to prevent your problem.
I have done this swap and have had zero problems and I drive my trucks very hard.
FYI, this still needs to be done w/the True Track

FYI, this still needs to be done w/the True Track I retired from RC, now life is all about guns and long range shooting.
