starscream is referring to the undergeared condition, which, IMO, seems to be the case. Typically in these setups the ESC should heat up pretty comparably to the motor, so low ESC temp/high motor temp is often indicative of too little load.
Too little load means that efficiency won't be in the "sweet spot", so more energy will be wasted as heat.
