Sounds like you need to calibrate your radio to the ESC so the ESC knows where neutral, reverse, and forwards endpoints are. Set your radio EPA to 100% in both Rev/For, and then set throttle trim to 0, then calibrate.

You do not need the card for this, the manual explains how to do this.

And from the factory, it is setup for two packs, but a little resoldering will let you use one pack if you want.
