In larger vehicles where steering currents are quite a bit higher, you should run an external BEC on anything over 2s or 7-8 NiMH cells. Any higher and the BEC heats up too much. Just remove the red wire on the throttle cable, and use an external BEC. The servos, fans, receiver will all be running off the external BEC that way.
