I would use a pair of
these in series, or if you want some serious runtime and better lipo temperatures, a pair of
these in parallel. They're so cheap its worth thinking about.
As for shocks, I believe stiffer springs in the rear yeah, but Im not sure on the oil weights- might be worth having a read of this suspension tuning guide:
