anyways MW2 comes out tomorow for me and im way excited
Yeah, I don't feel bad at all for doing it. If they would simply fix the issue on their end they wouldn't have to deal with as many replacements.

I have to work all morning, afternoon, evening, and into tuesday but my boss said he'd let me take off at midnight to pick up MW2...then come back to work

Is there a way to swap over the serial numbers too?

(Sorry for my ignorance, I've never owned an Xbox or Xbox 360, nor have I ever even taken apart any game console, short of a Wii which I tried to mod for a friend).
In some places, yeah. It has a tamperproof sticker between the top and bottom halves of the case that will be obviously broken if you took it apart to swap cases.

The serial numbers are on a sticker on the back. I assumed it would be tamper-evident like the faceplate sticker so I simply put my old case on my new XBox and the old guts into the new case and returned the new case with old guts.

EDIT: I wouldn't try swapping cases with a Wii or a PS3 which are built considerably better. The XBox 360 is one step up from cardboard and duct tape. I can crack one open in a matter of minutes and do a complete swap in a half hour or so because they're slapped together so poorly.

All I ever wanted was an honest weeks pay for an honest days work.
