Well I know some guys use saran wrap to more or less waterproof their packs. I myself am more concerned with insulating them, I think it's way more important the packs stay warm to slightly hot, than waterproofing. Unless you are completely submerging the packs I don't see that as being an issue. Between 85 and 105F would be a good cold weather target range.
