Savage 5t Convert, what power package is best ?? - 01.08.2010, 01:28 PM

Next month I'm going to start my Savage 5T build
( http://www.tcscrawlers.com/TCS-Flux-...t-p-17912.html )

I plan on the FLM hybrid bulks and towers w/XXl shocks and the rest will be Savage Xl parts and XL wheels and tires. I've seen how the stock Flux and Savage towers bend and flex w/LST shocks and really thought the FLM parts would be best for the diff assembly's anyway(w/HPI Super diff gears or 1/8scale diffs, haven't decided yet?) I wanted the aluminum where it counts and wish the rest to be plastic for light weight including the shocks.

Anyway, on to the questions. I was reading in the Baja 5b Ebay thread that some of you gentlemens ideas of a proper power plant for that heavy of a RC and it has me reconsidering my options.

Since the 5T kit weighs 4lbs plus the FLM aluminum and normal Savy parts I figured the 5T Savage will weigh 18-20lbs when complete and was hoping a M.M.M. and the 1717 on 6s was the ideal choice ?????

I also thought about the Castle Ice w/8s with a Neu ????

I want to incorperate mechanical brakes on regardless what combo I go with

What do you fellas think is best, I want ther motor and ESC to cost under $600.00-$650.00 if possible. I'm totally open to suggestions .

I retired from RC, now life is all about guns and long range shooting.
