Trouble with a universal mount is that even if the motor you want to use is 1mm larger in diameter the clamps will crush the motor as they dont match the motor. A normal clamp works by being the same diameter but having a gap inbetween the upper and lower halfs- as you apply pressure and tighten the clampthe tow halfs pull together around the motor, they dont bite into the sides like a smaller diameter clamp would.

Best solution would be to have a clamp with changeable inserts for various sized motors, or a mount more like a conventional motor mount that bolts down in the same places as the stock version, but the motor is front mounted via 2 or 4 screws, much like the revo motor mount for nitro conversions.
