We got our new ERBEs today... -

AS some of you may know a buddy and I ordered our trucks last Saturday. So they arrive right on time and I go and pick up 2 E-Revo Brushless Edition trucks, mine a blue one and his a black one. Heck I'm like a child on Christmas day I can't wait to drive the 50 miles home and tear into this thing. I don't know if we are suppost to talk $ here but we got 2 ERBE trucks, 1 dual battery digital charger, and one single battery charger, castle link and 2 sets of traxxas battery charger connectors for $1400 out the door from the 'LHS' (if you can call 50 miles away local as there are non closer)
Since shipping was over $100 for both cars to get them in the time same frame we found it was cheaper to get them local. I aso bought the Sway kit and 2 sets of springs 4.4 r & 3.5 f. Well it took about the same time to charge the batteries as it did to read the instructions and install shock springs, anti sway kit, and put the tools away.
The whole reason for going with the ERBE was because the challenge was thrown down as I needed an electric truck to beat a HPI Savage 4.6 X ...
Well it might be a long time since some of you got a brand new ERBE but all I can say is ... I could tell my buddy was pissed when we lined the 3 trucks up ... IT WAS EMBARASSING!!! The ERBE got their butts spanked like a 3 year old for stealing candy!! They could just barely pull a wheelie! I was thinking "what was with ALL the youtube videos I have been watching for the last 2 weeks!! The savage was quicker and so much faster I was trully thinking I had just wasted some real coin on a couple of slugs ... Not just one of the ERBE was slow, but BOTH of them were pitiful! SO bad so that a seasoned BRUSHED E-Traxx with fresh batteries (2 6 cell 5000mah) was faster and quicker than our trucks... WTH!!! Another example of the lack of power wass on a 2' jump, we couldn't rotate a back flip but the Savage could. Also about 1/2 through the first run my buddy smacked in to a tree and broke a pushrod! (thanks for the advice of getting those guys!! He was bummed until I pulled one out of the 'spare parts bag'. Taking advice for those that already know, YES!!
Not only were we both bummed BUT our other buddies were laughing at us because we had to go buy the beer! THEIR BRAND EVEN!!
So when we get back the batteries are ready for a second run BUT I wanted to hook the Castle Link up and see if these damn thing were in "trainer mode" or something! Well we really didn't know what the right settings to put in were but we knew we couldn't go TOO MUCH FURTHER the wrong way ... So we change some values that seemed like it might make it quicker and faster.. I need advice from you guys on this for tomorrow.
SO the second charge the buddy with the Savage went to dinner and didn't see the improvement ... They were at least TWICE and quick and fast! Wheelie and carry the wheelie down the road 30 to 40 feet ... OK NOW we have something we can work with, but still maybe not as fast as that damn Savage, but way closer!
Back in to recharge and get ready for a remach with the unsuspecting Savage owner. We go back into the castle links program and do a few more tweaks and we wait ...
THE REMATCH ...
Charge & run #3 for the ERBEs and we line them up ....Got the go signal from the starter and the they each wheelie but he savage wrecks within 15 feet and we do a rematch ... since it appeared the 2 ERBEs were close we decided to let one sit out (as run time needs to be improved) and it appeared we now might be able to take turns beating up on the Savage!
We line them back up and both get a good start... (maybe my best ever!! lol) both are close we both get about 10' out and get the front too hich both back out to drop the front but still accelerating, wheelieing again at 35' out, same thing but I just barely let off and feed it power and it drops the front and walks away from the savage and another wheel stand until about 80' out, front end drops and I'm a full 5-8 feet ahead!! YEA!! my $700 truck beats his $150 Craigslist Savage!!
Third charge netted, a victory in the rematch AND reconized FASTEST R/C Monster truck in our group of buddies, (there was like 7 trucks there) a land and drive out; back flip, front flip and 15 foot long rolling cart wheel! Yep we are happy after the third charge ... How much quicker/faster will it get. How many charges until everything is loosened up and broke in?
Tomorrow we start building a track ....
