Intro and a few ?'s - 02.10.2006, 09:50 PM

First off, a BIG thanks to Mike for the e-mails and everyone who posts for all the info I've picked up in the last week or so.

I have decided to go brushless with my stock powered E-maxx (all ACNC aluminum, cvd's), and quickly discovered there was alot more to it than picking a controller/motor combo and dropping it in. I don't race, and don't plan to. Just bashing on the weekends with buddies - all nitro folks.

I found a GREAT deal (I already bought it) on another RTR brushless e-maxx with all Integy aluminum, lehner xl3100, 9920 ESC, HD diffs, G-maxx chassis, single speed, HD servo's etc... Here is my plan. Replace all the Integy stuff with my ACNC parts, with the exception of the a-arms, going to switch RPM's to try and save some weight.

In researching the 3100 on here, to two thing that pop up the most is that the 3100 doesn't like a "heavy" truck, and that it tends run "hot" on a heavy truck. My two questions are:

What is considered "heavy"? Right now, my Maxx wieghs 12 pounds with 14 cells. I'm guessing the new one will be a bit lighter, due the BL, g-maxx, A-arms and 12 cells, but I won't know exactly until I get it put together.

What is considered "hot"? I have an infared temp guage. Can anyone pinpoint a temp range for the motor I should stay below? Or is "hot" an internal temp thing and not accuratly measureable on the surface of the motor?

Sorry for the long post, but my thirst for knowledge as this point seems insatiable.
