High current devices tend to let out smoke and flames- thats alot of power in a small confined area being released. You cant avoid this small potential for collateral damage, especially when the escs are mounted to plastic trucks, but when they do fail during use, they tend to be in the middle of a track or field, so damage to property and people is limited.
Whats worse, a runway 20+ lb gas or nitro truck, or an electric truck that stops dead and smokes for a bit?
