Hey Zack... that sounds like a plan... To Prep the surface for your design... Use masking tape to cover the entire working area on carbon fiber.... Print the design with a laser printer (the ink won't fade or run when it gets wet).... Apply spay adhesive to the back of the design first... then glue it to the masking tape surface...
Now, this is important... Carbon Fiber dust is not something you want have flying all around the room... so I recommend when cutting, wet the carbon first and keep it as wet as possible while you work (this will reduce the dust effect)... Also a well ventilated work space is good... Some face protection is needed... A cutoff wheel will be good for the initial shapes... The detailed stuff can be made with a tungsten carbide cutting bit... A sanding drum and some sanding paper (200 to 600 grit) is always nice to clean up the ruff stuff...
Any reason why you don't want to have the design cut on a CNC?
