I can't stand the electrics - they rash me up something horrible. And I ruled out after shaves a long time ago - they are worse than anything on my skin. This may have as much to do with when you shave. Have you tried it at different times (in the shower/right after shower/at night/in the am)?
How about waxing the top of your head? (Keep in mind, I know nothing about being bald.....!!)
