Why is my wireless laptop so much faster than my desktop? Maybe processor speed plays into it?
Could be the time of day usually, or it could be some setting on the router thats throttling your desktops download/ upload speed- make sure the laptop is turned off when you test the PC and viceversa.

Interesting thing is that it is recommended a server in madchester ( not a typo... ) , where as my home PC is directed via Reading. Curious, think its because its done via a Sodeho proxy server ( company intranet bollocks, blocks all the good sites, and now the proxy browsers too ).

EDIT: Ah, Im on BT at home, but work is Cable & Wireless ISP. That makes sense...
