there is no reason to get more than a 2200 in a standard mt. in my savage flux, my 2200 motor rarely goes above 100f in 85f ambient temps on 4s. it is geared for 40mph on 4s, and even on 6s geared for over 60mph, it rarely goes above 120F.
even when i added a ton of weight and huuuge tires to my flux, the motor didn't get hotter than 110f on 4s geared for 45mph. (it weighed 17lbs)
motors run cooler in MTs than buggies and truggies because there is no center diff and they are higher off the ground. you cannot plant as much power to the ground with a MT. even a 60mm medusa motor would be fine as long as you are sensible with the gearing.
long story short, get the 2200.
They say a good mechanic only needs 2 tools - WD40 & Duct tape. If it moves, and its not supposed to, duct tape. If it doesn't move, and its supposed to, WD40.
