Its not hard to do with the right cutter. I used a 5mm counterbore bit with 1/8 pilot. Did it right in the drill press, the pilot keeps everything centered. Then I just used 680 loctite to keep the pinion on the motor shaft. Only bad thing was the cutter cost $15 and broke after 3 pinions.
