Well, those 1/8 buggy diffs have no slipper, unfortunately. The lack of a slipper is a downside, but I hope it just works. Some other people have used this kind of diff setup without problems.
You are right, this is a direct drive setup. The front/rear diffs offer some reduction, of course, as well as the center diff with its big spur. The pinion on the motor is the only place that let's you change gearing reasonably.
With a center diff truck, compared to a tranny, you need to select a different motor. Just calculate your overall reduction and choose a motor that gives you the desired speed at your particular voltage.
I guess you have seen my first Revo with the E tranny. This was done over one year ago, and I have learned alot about BL and RC since then.
Cadtech, how about showing some of your work? I always enjoy to see custom RC stuff.
