Freeze,
I went to solder on some of that 8 guage wire and it was a bear. I killed a deans connector before giving up. A 60W iron wont do the trick.
You should dissassemble the pack and find out which cell is bad and remove it. Then resolder the 8 guage wire back on to the single cell. If you put the 2S and 1S with a series connector you will have 3S.
