One must also remember that we cannot just simply "tax the rich" to solve this problem. Everyone will be affected, period.
Any tax increases have to have goals and deadlines in which they are reduced by X when goal Y is reached and so on. It must also stipulate the reduction in size and scope of government. Handouts have got to stop, pork laden bills have got to stop, funding everything under the sun has got to stop.
I also believe that if we as a country would stop waving our partisan flags, and use common sense, facts, compromise, and the understanding of basic mathematical principles that we could reach some solutions.
Sit at the table and throw out feelings and theories and we can come to reasonable conclusions.
