Yea I have done this too. I have a set of Proline 40 series Road Rage 2 wheels with dental floss wrapped on them in the two center treads. two wraps tied and glued, with black shoe die over them so you cannot see that it is there. They are for my high speed project. They are also Axial beadlock rims, with a couple drops of gorilla glue between the inner bead and the metal ring to aid in holding the tires together at higher speeds. Plus each wheel once fully assembled have been maticulously balanced in order to keep the power transfer smooth and reduce any vibration that can cause handling problems.
