Might be a bit much for a christmas present... and the Maxx...

Thank You Castle
It is pricey -- but it costs a lot to make 7hp work right brushless.

For ESC dimensions see:

http://www.castlecreations.com/suppo...ix_Ice_200.pdf

The motor is 2.25" x 4.4" (57mm x 110mm) and weighs 44 ounces (1250 grams.) Compare that to a 1515 which weighs 14 ounces (395 grams.)

This is a big, powerful system. There's almost $100.00 in parts cost in the motor alone (and that doesn't count labor, machine time, etc..) The majority of the cost is in the MASSIVE magnets used in this motor.

The ESC has 72 Infineon MOSFETs, almost 40 copper bus bars, and uses 8ga wires (and the wires STILL get hot when running full-out,) and 8mm bullet connectors. The design uses a 6 layer power board, heavy copper (in addition to the laminated bus bars) and is designed to withstand the rigors of ultra-high power switching.

It's been a blast designing this system -- but unfortunately it can't be made any more inexpensive than it already is. Perhaps in a couple years we'll start seeing much lower costs (as MOSFETs get better--) but today the cost to produce the system is what drives the cost to the end-user.

Thanx!

Patrick
