Cheap aluminium skids should work pefectly fine, but as soon as you start bumping into things they will bend a lot more easily than better quality ones, such as FLM for example. I use Titanium skids but those are hard to find these days- keep a watch on ebay really.

Your setup sounds perfectly fine- I wouldnt really bother with the FLM hybrid bulks unless you really wanted the slightly cleaner look to the frotn and rear ends.

The plastic RPM a-arms are probably a better idea than metal ones as they absorb impacts better- its all about choosing your weak points carefully so you dont spend a fortune replacing expensive broken parts, just cheap broken parts instead.

Snow wont hurt the aluminium, but the plastic parts can become more brittle sometimes, depends how long you are out in the snow for and just how cold it really is ( air temperature too ).
