This is correct. The engineers chose to add an over-voltage protection into the newer versions of firmware. If you go over the rated voltage on the controller, the red LED will flash quickly in the event of over-voltage and prevent you from using the controller. Just roll the firmware back to an older version and it will still work.

Thanks for the clarification. I thought I was going nuts. Smoked a MMM v1 a few weeks ago just by plugging it in ,and I thought I had killed this MM somehow... Crazy!!!
