The setback arms, IIRC, don't put it at an extreme angle. I've actually heard the sliders can be better for crawling just due to the twist that is allowed and the flex they give. CVDs would be better for straight to the ground power but a lot of guys have trouble with them in low speed crawling with high articulating suspensions.

Sounds like a sweet project.
