Jerry, I'm doing okay here on the ship. I have duty today so I can't go home. So far, nothing was damage on base but it was pretty scary. The quake lasted almost a minute long and there were plenty of aftershocks. The tsunami was only about 6 feet on base but the northern part of Japan wasn't as lucky. They were inundated with 23-foot waves and I could just watch in amazement how fishing boat, trucks, cars and houses were swept by the waves. My family is doing okay but they were scared and shaken bad. It sucks because I can't go home and console them especially the kids. It doesn't help either living in the 8th floor of a high rise tower. Were about 41 miles southeast of Tokyo.
Thanks for the concern. Now, it time fior me to go on a 4-hour Officer of the Deck watch. I can't wait until I get home tomorrow.
