The good news is that Castle is supposed to be working on 5MM shaft rotors for the SCT motors, so when you snap your 1/8" shaft, you will be able to buy a 5MM shaft.

I snapped a few hacker 1/8 shafts in 8th scale buggies back in the day. 5mm shaft is mandatory unless you have a slipper setup. Even then, it is just good sense.
