Yes, it would work assuming the 1717 had a low enough kv to handle 7 to 12s lipo, if you ran less than 7s, i wouldnt see the point of having the HV when the regular Monster goes to 6s and the regular XL goes to 8s. And if the XL-HV is like their Hydra HV then it wont even turn on for less than 6s.
