But seriously the 1520 would be a better option IMHO. Patrick from Castle stated that the diameter of the rotor being just the little bigger in the 1717 make the centrifugal forces so much more on the magnet and wrappings = More prone to failing when running those 60,000+ RPMs. And I do remember him saying that they were accidently testing to 100k when the MMM Combo first arrived with the same dia. rotor. Hence the 45k and 60k limits on either motor.

Either way Castle IS coming out with new rotors for the 1717/1520 soon, So have at it! Video it and break some records. Just stop throttle if you hear a pop. My dad was running the 2650 on 6s for months and the rotor finally gave and his windings were OK because he didnt try to gas it IMO.

This is a hobby and is meant to be entertaining, And It sure will be...
Running the 1717 on 9s will be pushing it to the extreme limit IMO.
