The part that broke is the one you end up hating the most, whether its a servo, speed control, receiver, gyro, etc etc. A lot of guys that I know run CC speed controllers on their heli's without issues, but I'm sure some have probably failed and when they do on a 500 or larger heli, the whole world is going to hear about it.
I am fortunate to know a really good heli guy who I know worked personally on projects with CC over the years. When I was looking into heli's he told me the first and foremost you have to accept the fact the you WILL crash. It's never if, it's when. He also told most of the time it's due to the pilot and not anything else even though many want to blame this or that.

The nature of a helicopter in general is that it really doesn't naturally want to fly and stay stable, you have to force it to. I have my office on an Airport and the people next door work on helicopters and usually have 3-5 in their hangar. I have had extensive talks with them about the nature of helicopter flight. It stays pretty much the same no matter scale. It's just that in the RC heli world the larger the heli the more expensive the crash. You don't want to know what just a hard landing will do to a real helicopter as far as monetary damage.

When it comes to the business part I can completely appreciate what Patrick is saying. Some people can't be pleased so you wash your hands of it and move on. I had a customer just recently we lost because of this. Nothing we could do would ever be enough because their expectations were simply unrealistic. Sad thing is they won't be happy with anyone in the end.
