3 simple reasons why I don't like the "smear threadlock on the shaft" method:
-it's a mess, really
-needs time to dry, so no quick changes on the track
-if you don't get decent threadlock, the heat from the motor can melt it loose
-if you DO get decent threadlock, it will be hard to pull it off, even with a puller
-pulling hard on pinions puts unneccesairy axial force on the magnet/shaft connection
