M'kay, so you've purchased an XBE which will arrive shortly. The hobbywing esc in mine works fine on 6S, pushing a CC 1520. I'm using a BEC for 6v to the steering servo as well, which helps the esc to some degree.

But the main point is what you're aiming for. More run time at higher voltage with less power loss due to heat? Consider the stock motor and esc one system then.

Replace this with an esc capable of higher voltage (ala CC XL2) and comparable motor with better efficiency rather than running the risk of blowing the stock esc just for kicks.

Even running the stock motor on 8S will probably chance ruining it or causing lots of heat and defeating your purpose. You could sell both the stock motor and esc to reduce your price point towards a more efficient motor.

XL2 esc with a Leopard 5692 1030kv should keep you plenty happy. Hope your batteries are up to par as well..
