From personal experience with our pre-production XO-1 test cars:

The tires are specially made for the XO-1 -- they are not off-the-shelf 8th scale tires. They are belted (so they don't balloon at high RPM,) and they are very sticky.

You have to be gentle with the throttle -- it has so much torque it will break all four tires loose and then "skate" all over the place. But it's pretty stable at high speed.
