That is one of the coolest rc's I've ever seen. Instead of bumpers,you could look into some titanium skids that have a lip on them, for example these:
http://www.greatassemblyrc.com/Titanium_Skid_Plates.cfm . They're expensive, but will last forever! Some other companies make skids like these, but the greatassemblyrc ones are the best.
