Haven't been in the market for a while, so not sure what's good/reliable, but a quick look at user reviews at walmart, bestbuy, etc should clue you in easily. They pretty much all load via usb and appear like an external drive to windows/mac/linux, so loading is drag n drop without software/drivers on any recent OS.

Since you only want music and may fall on the ground at some point, I wouldn't get any with a big fancy (and fragile) screen as long as you can see what's playing.
