I seem to remember them saying something about not selling enough when the sale on them started. I can see why because no manufacturer used them in production (at the time) and only more advanced users seemed to know they existed. I know all of my local shops knew nothing of them and didn't seem to want to know either.
I'm not really surprised at the 1717's demise, it's not a bolt in affair for most MT's with stock mounts and truggies usually require spacing the center diff up a tad. I am surprised the 1518 and 1520 didn't take off though. Even though I have nothing to put them in now I feel lucky to have a 1518 and 1520, awesome motors.
