What I did on mine was just soldered a four conductor cable (or just 4 wires) to those pins and ran the cable/wires down through the handle to the bottom of the case and soldered on a 3s balance plug. No headers necessary. I have removed the battery tray because I'm using a lipo, but I think you could work it with the battery tray still in.
