Yea... I went through all of that already. The software runs...finds the controller and all seems normal expect that tit cant read or write to the eprom on the controller. Works no isses if I boot the machine using the old win98 on a old hard drive, but i XP no luck. I emailed the manufacturer and they forwarded the email to Mike to deal with. When I talked to him he said the same thing, Theres no reason it shouldnt work, but when he tryed it on an XP machine, same thing. He couldnt read or write to the eprom either.
He said he was going to ask BK when he got a chance, but I havent heard anything back from him yet.
I'll let you kn ow if I get it sorted out. I havent had much time to play with it lately, been traveling alot for work. SO when I do, I'll try compatability mode, But I kinda doubt it will make much difference since the software runs no problem, but it for some reason recognize the controller eprom. Someone else told me that the way XP is set up on the parrele port is different from the other versions of windows. The parralel port is a virtual port of some sort. I guess its because its a legeacy type coneection that isn't really used that much and it runs the USB ond other ports more effiecntly that way. I dont know if this is correct or not, just something someone told me when I was mentioning this issue to them.
ANyway, I'll let you know if I ever get it straightend out. Honestly I don't have much motivation to spend time on it. If I want to use it, I just boot with the old hard drive and work arround the issue. Kind of a PITA, but easier than spending hours trying to solve an issue the software engineers should be working on.
