Edit: Mark, Sorry about the hijack. I just can't help myself Where do you find sand dunes in SF? Do you overheat on pavement/dirt/grass or just in the sand. Along with your CVDs the sand will drag far more than tall grass. Extra strain on everything. Have you tried paddles with any difference in temps? A 9xl or 10xl might be better for you if the sand is what you mostly run in.
