Do you have the steel diff in there? If you don't, you'll find that the tranny runs so much quieter and the diff won't strip as easily if at all.
What grinding did you have to do? I run the aluminum tranny case on a custom chassis and custom rear shock tower, so maybe that's why I didn't have any problems.
