"proper" gearing is lets say subjective, :) It has the ability to push 60mph imo but of course you won't gear it that way for racing.

I would gear for about 30-35 top end for a small to medium size track and maybe a bit higher for a large track. My truck (and RC Mike's) is geared for low 30's.

My motor is the 1700kv 1515 so my gearing is different... but a rough conversion estimate tells me you should gear for a final drive ratio of 22:1 for a 30mph top end. That's a good start imo... as it agrees with the math from mike's and mine. Both trucks run 30ish mph on 4s lipo. (14 cells should be similar)

mine: 1700kv and 14:1 (1700/14=121.4)
mike: 2200kv and 18:1 (2200/18=122.2)
yours: 2700kv and 22:1 (2700/22=122.7)


I'm curious to see what temps you get. I think mikes setup is better than mine based on the lower motor temps he is getting. I'm going to gear up just a little and see if the temps go up or down.
