There is no luck needed. I ran a 1920 5 turn motor with 14.4 volts on my emaxx before. Ran REALLY hot, but thing didn't blow up. Then, the pinion gear fell off and the motor was REALLY screaming (took me a couple of seconds to realize that the pinion was off while I was trying to floor it!!!)
The 5 turn is way over 6000 KV so I was in the realm of like 70-80000 rpm!!!
BTW, I'm not saying that the 9918 can't handle it, but I know that my 12.97 would thermal under race conditions with the c406s and the 1920 5.
