I think it's a misconception that a 380 will spool up faster than a 540 size (in a car under acceleration, both geared properly etc) ... the difference in the weight of the rotors is insignificant compared to the total amount of work the motor is doing... the drivetrain... tires.. etc plus the fact that it has to move the weight of the whole car let's not forget.
It's a complete mythg that a 380 is snappier than a 540 IMO... if you can't get over the weight of the rotor... consider the fact that the 540 does have more horsepower on tap so I think it can handle the extra couple of grams it has to move.
I'm sure many will swear there is a difference etc... I believe the reason behind the difference observed lies elsewhere, such as the batteries. The 540 will demand more from the batteries and if the batteries strain to keep up then it will feel sluggish. The 380 probably doesn't hit as hard so the battery keeps up and bingo.... snappy acceleration.
Something to chew on....
And the Mamba motors are not low end... I agree.
