I ran the 5S on the MM, but with an overgeared 8xl and a heavier Revo. The controller worked well for me, and the only part that really got hot was the motor after blasting WOT thru the grass. Even after that the controller didn't break 140, and the caps didn't break 150. Motor was near 180.

=> I think the controller can work for you, but it will be dependent on a few things.

The car not being too heavy, not overgearing, using a small fan (*must), no excessively harsh driving (ie driving WOT thru the grass for 30 min in 90f+ weather.)

The good points you have over my setup is, much lighter and way less rotating mass, higher eff motor, and I think would draw less amps than the 8xl.

If you could manage to use the mech brakes then it should be no sweat.
